Flightstar Corporation began as Midstate Aviation in December 1978, operating from a modest 12' x 60' construction trailer. What started as a small aviation company has grown into a comprehensive aviation services provider over more than four decades of continuous operation. Our journey began with our first contract with the University of Illinois on January 15, 1979, and the purchase of our first aircraft, a 1975 Piper Aztec, which launched our charter operations. After obtaining our Part 135 Air Carrier Operating Certificate, we became a Piper Aircraft dealer from 1979-1981, even earning the distinction of Piper Aircraft dealer of the year. Through the years, we evolved from Midstate Aviation to AVISTAR AIR CENTER, and finally to our current name, FLIGHTSTAR CORPORATION. This evolution reflects our growth from a small operation in modular offices to a major aviation service center spanning multiple hangars and facilities. Today, Flightstar operates an extensive maintenance and service complex including Hangars 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11, totaling over 100,000 square feet of hangar and maintenance space. Our comprehensive services include FBO operations, aircraft maintenance and repair, charter services, and specialized aviation support. We serve both general aviation and commercial airline customers, with particular expertise in overnight airline maintenance. Our Airline Division has completed over 1,000 engine changes for American Eagle's Embraer fleet, transitioning from ATR series aircraft to Embraer Regional Jets and currently maintaining the Embraer 170 series exclusively. As a Bombardier Authorized Service Facility for the Learjet 45/75 and a Honeywell Authorized Service Center for the TFE731 and Honeywell APU, we maintain the highest industry standards. Our specialized departments include General Aviation service, structures, avionics (expanded through the acquisition of Bloomington Avionics), interior refurbishment with a dedicated 4,500 square foot facility, and Non-Destructive Testing. We also manage the U.S. Customs and Border Protection General Aviation Facility, a User Fee Port of Entry that facilitates international private aviation travel. This unique service demonstrates our commitment to supporting all aspects of aviation operations. From our humble beginnings in a construction trailer to becoming a full-service aviation center, Flightstar Corporation continues to serve the aviation community with the same dedication that has driven us since 1978.
